Wojciech Fibak, a renowned Polish tennis player, Australian Open doubles champion, and close friend of the Hurkacz family, informed that after consultations with the best orthopedic specialists in Poland, the decision for surgery was made, and it took place on Tuesday.

“I am in constant contact with Hubert and his family, and I made every effort to ensure he received care from the best orthopedic doctors in Poland. These are doctors from Poznań, Warsaw, and Szczecin. After various consultations, the decision was made, and important steps were taken for Hubert today. What will he be capable of at the Olympics in France? It’s unclear because we don’t know if he will be able to compete after the injury,” Wojciech Fibak said in an interview with sportowy24.pl.

Rehabilitation is now crucial, and the athlete’s team is working intensively, dedicating up to 12 hours a day to it. Hurkacz plans to compete in three events at the Paris Olympics starting on July 26: singles, mixed doubles with Iga Świątek, and doubles with Jan Zieliński.

"Hubert is intensely focusing on his rehabilitation and conditioning. He and his team are dedicating up to 12 hours a day to this process. We will provide further updates in seven days. Hubert and his team thank you for your understanding, support, and interest," his team reported.
