Świątek, who recently parted ways with coach Tomasz Wiktorowski, currently leads the rankings with 9,785 points, ahead of Sabalenka's 9,716 points and American Coco Gauff's 5,973.
However, on October 28, Świątek will lose 1,500 points from last year's season-ending WTA Finals victory, paving the way for Sabalenka to take over the No. 1 spot, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
Over the weekend, Sabalenka secured the Wuhan Open title in China, while Świątek opted out of competing in Asia this season, citing fatigue and personal reasons.
Her last competitive appearance was in early September.
The second-highest ranked Polish female player, Magdalena Fręch, moved up three places to a career-high No. 24 in the latest WTA rankings.
Meanwhile, countrywoman Magda Linette climbed five spots to 40th place in the new world rankings, which were released on Monday.
Fręch and Linette both reached the quarterfinals at this year's Wuhan Open.
