The Polish-Egyptian duo defeated Romania's Jaqueline Cristian and Italy's Angelica Moratelli 7-6, 6-4 in the quarterfinals.

Next up for Piter and Sherif are Australian Ellen Perez and Russian Alexandra Panova.

Meanwhile, Poland's Magda Linette crashed out in the second round of the women's singles at the Mérida Open, and countrywoman Magdalena Fręch was eliminated in the first round.

Poland's world No. 2 Iga Świątek is gearing up to defend her title at the upcoming Indian Wells tournament in the United States.

Świątek won the Indian Wells championship in 2022, made the semifinals in 2023, and regained the title last year, posting a 16-1 win-loss record during that time frame, according to the Women's Tennis Association (WTA).

The Pole is also the most recent woman to complete the Sunshine Double, winning Indian Wells and the Miami Open back-to-back in 2022, the WTA said.

The 2025 Indian Wells opens in California next Wednesday and runs until March 16.
