The Polish world No. 2 is coming off a semifinal loss to Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva at Indian Wells.

Świątek, who won the Indian Wells championship in 2022 and 2024, failed to defend her title in California this year.

She swept past Caroline Garcia, Dayana Yastremska, Karolína Muchová, and Qinwen Zheng before falling to Andreeva in three sets.

Potential Garcia rematch?

Garcia is set to open against Hungary’s Anna Bondar, who survived two three-set qualifying matches. If the Frenchwoman prevails, Świątek would meet her for a second consecutive event after toppling Garcia at Indian Wells.

Świątek, 21, has posted strong performances but remains winless in 2025. After breezing through the field in Indian Wells, she will again be among the favorites in Miami.
