The Polish No. 3 seed needed just one hour and 48 minutes to dispatch Echargui, breaking serve once in each set, in the eighth game of the first and the fifth game of the second, while never facing a break point of his own. Hurkacz's serve was the difference-maker, producing 12 aces on the day.
It capped a strong week for the 69th-ranked Pole, who received a wild card into the second round and needed just two matches to reach the semifinals: a win over Portugal's Henrique Rocha followed by a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Roman Safiullin in the quarterfinals, a match in which Hurkacz saved nine break points without being broken.
Sunday's final pits Hurkacz against top-seeded Sebastian Baez of Argentina, a rematch of two previous meetings — both won by the Pole.
The Cancun run marks Hurkacz's last tournament before the US Open, which starts Aug. 30 in New York.
