At 7:00 PM local time on Saturday, the current season's final Speedway Grand Prix event will kick off at the Marian Rose Motoarena in central Poland's Toruń - with the 2026 individual World Champion title still up for grabs.
Ahead of certain GP competitions, to determine starting positions the extra-points-providing "sprint races" are held - instead of the standard qualifying sessions. This was the case in Toruń, and as the title race is still very tight - their results may just as well decide who will lift the trophy.
Poland's Bartosz Zmarzlik still eyes grabbing the 2026 title, and was second in the overall ranking by Friday evening. Throughout the season he scored no points in sprints - but on Saturday he finished runner-up. Therefore, he received 3 extra points and became the new title leader just ahead of the final event.
The Pole now has 144 points, Britain's Robert Lambert holds second place with 142, while Australian Brady Kurtz is third with 139 (both Lambert ant Kurtz surprisingly scored no points in the morning sprints).
If Zmarzlik keeps the newly-achieved lead by the end of Saturday evening's Grand Prix event in Toruń - the Pole will add the 7th individual World Championship to his already impressive trophy cabinet.
