Before a home crowd in the north-central city of Bydgoszcz, the Polish team finished ahead of Germany and France.
Poles clinched 10 individual victories in the championships, which ran from Friday to Sunday.
On the final day, Polish winners included Adam Kszczot in the 800 metres, Sofia Ennaoui in the women’s 1500m, Piotr Lisek in the pole vault, and Piotr Małachowski in the discus. Poland’s women’s 4x400 m relay team also came first.
At the European Athletics Championships in Berlin last August, Poland won 12 medals—seven gold, four silver and one bronze—and finished second behind Britain in the overall medals table.
