Poland beat China at Basketball World Cup

Poland have beaten hosts China in their second match of the Basketball World Cup in Beijing, sealing a spot in the next round of the tournament.

The Polish team, coached by American Mike Taylor, won 79-76 in overtime on Monday, securing a berth in the World Cup’s round of 16 and also automatically advancing to a qualifying tournament for next year’s Tokyo Olympics.

The Poles on Saturday defeated Venezuela 80-69 in their opening match of the tournament in the Chinese capital, chalking up their first World Cup win in 52 years. 

On Wednesday, Poland take on the Ivory Coast in their final group-stage game at the 2019 Basketball World Cup in Beijing.
