The Online Nations Cup tournament contested by Poland’s Jan-Krzysztof Duda will take place from May 5 to 10, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency has reported.
The event, held by the International Chess Federation (FIDE), will feature some of the sport’s hottest players partnering with retired legends including Kasparov and another former world champion, Viswanathan Anand of India.
Nearly all the top players on the planet, representing six teams—China, India, Russia, the USA, Europe, and the Rest of the World—are due to compete in the tournament, whose prize money is USD 180,000, according to the International Chess Federation.
Jan-Krzysztof Duda, 21, is the highest ranked Polish chess player. He will be part of Team Europe, which will be captained by the 57-year-old Kasparov, one of the best players in the history of the game.
