Back to the gym after lockdown

After nearly three months of lockdown, culture and entertainment venues as well as indoor sports facilities across Poland have been allowed to restart their operations, as the country eases restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic.

As of Saturday, they started operating under special regulations limiting the number of customers on site.

The fitness industry, which generates around PLN 4 billion of annual income and employs about 80,000 people, was one of the first to close down after the COVID-19 outbreak.

According to a survey by pollster Kantar in April, 85 percent of Poles said they wanted to increase their level of physical activity after the end of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Danuta Isler visited a McFit fitness centre in Warsaw on Saturday morning, where she spoke to Katarzyna Radzikowska, communications manager for McFit Poland.
