Polish football, speedway stadiums reopen to fans

But stadiums will only be allowed to fill to 25 percent of their capacity amid the coronavirus pandemic, officials have said.

Poland’s top football league was one of the first in Europe to allow football matches to be played without spectators last month.

The Ekstraklasa premier league resumed behind closed doors on May 29 after players and club staff tested negative for the coronavirus.

Three days earlier, two Polish Cup quarterfinals were played without spectators, marking the official return of football in Poland after more than two months of coronavirus stoppage.

Meanwhile, some of Europe’s top speedway racers are expected to flock to Poland next month for a series of competitions making up the continental championships.
