With 26 goals for Germany’s Bayern Munich, the Pole comfortably leads the race for the European Golden Shoe award for the top scorer of the 2020/2021 season.

Portuguese forward André Silva is in second place, with 18 strikes for German side Eintracht Frankfurt.

Lewandowski found the back of the net in Bayern Munich's 1-2 defeat to Schalke in a German Bundesliga fixture on Saturday, taking his total goal tally for Bayern this season in all matches to 31.

Last season, Lewandowski finished runner-up in the European Golden Shoe race, behind Ciro Immobile of Italian outfit Lazio.

The Poland captain in December won FIFA’s 2020 Best Men’s Player award, beating Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo and Argentina’s Lionel Messi.

Lewandowski was also named Player of the Year at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai in late December.

The awards capped off a remarkable year for the Polish marksman, who scored 47 goals in 44 games for his club and country in 2020.
