The Warsaw club finished the 2020/2021 campaign five points ahead of Raków and 12 points ahead of Pogoń Szczecin to defend their title in a season marred by the coronavirus pandemic.

In the final round of matches on Sunday, Legia, managed by Czesław Michniewicz, won 1-0 against Podbeskidzie Bielsko-Biała at home, while Raków posted a comfortable 3-1 away win against Pogoń.

Legia had secured its 15th Polish Ekstraklasa championship with three games to spare, after Raków had to settle for a goalless draw with Jagiellonia Białystok at the end of last month.

Polish football stadiums reopened to spectators at 25 percent capacity on Saturday as the country eased its coronavirus lockdown measures.
