The 23-year-old, who rides for the Deceuninck-Quick Step cycling team, on Thursday finished ahead of Slovenia's second-placed Matej Mohorič and Italy's third-placed Andrea Vendrame in the annual race's 159 km fourth leg between the southern Polish city of Tarnów and Bukowina Tatrzańska close to the country's border with Slovakia.

Thursday's victory marked Almeida's second stage win in this year's Tour de Pologne after his first-place finish in the race's second leg between the eastern Polish cities of Zamość and Przemyśl on Tuesday.

Polish rider Michał Kwiatkowski, who won the 2018 Tour de Pologne, finished fourth in Bukowina Tatrzańska on Thursday.

The fifth leg of the 78th Tour de Pologne will on Friday see cyclists cover a 173 km route starting in Chochołów in Poland's picturesque Tatra Mountains on the Slovak border and ending in the southern city of Bielsko-Biała.

The remaining stages of the 2021 Tour de Pologne, Poland’s largest cycling race, end in Katowice and the historic city of Kraków.

More than 150 riders from 22 teams based in various countries are taking part in the seven-stage race, which runs until Sunday.
