The medal added to her series of strong finishes this season, with the Beijing Winter Olympics less than three months away.

Suzanne Schulting of the Netherlands won the event on Sunday, ahead of second-placed Choi Minjeong of South Korea.

Poland's Maliszewska earlier this season bagged a gold and a silver in the 500 metres competition.

"I trained hard to improve my performance in the 1000 metres," she told reporters.

In January last year, Maliszewska took the bronze in the women’s 500 metres at the 2020 European Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Debrecen.

She in November 2018 became the first Polish short-track speed skater to win a World Cup event.

In February 2019, Maliszewska became the first Pole to win an overall World Cup title in the sport.
