The decision was made by UEFA’s Executive Committee at a meeting in Croatia on Tuesday, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
The move is in direct response to Russia's continuing invasion of Ukraine, officials said.
UEFA announced: “All Russian teams are currently suspended following the decision of the UEFA Executive Committee of 28 February 2022, which was further confirmed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on 15 July 2022. Russia is therefore not included in the UEFA European Football Championship 2022-24 qualifying draw.”
The qualifying draw for the Euro 2024 tournament, which will be hosted by Germany, is due to take place in Frankfurt on October 9.
Russia’s expulsion from international football competitions
UEFA initially banned Russian teams on February 28, 2022, immediately following Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.
Russia appealed against the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, which upheld the bans on July 15.
Meanwhile, Russia has also been banned from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, following protests led by the Polish Football Association (PZPN).
In the play-offs for the 2022 World Cup, Russia was due to play Poland in the semifinals of Path B.
However, all the other teams in Path B, Poland, Sweden and the Czech Republic, refused to play against them in protest.
After earning a bye to the Path B final, Poland went on to beat Sweden 2-0 in the deciding game, earning a spot in Qatar, the PAP news agency reported.
In other restrictions, Russia’s women's team were banned from this summer's European Championship. They were replaced by Portugal.
Meanwhile, Russian club sides were excluded from the 2022/23 Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League. At the same time, UEFA terminated a sponsorship deal with the Russian energy giant Gazprom.
Moreover, this year’s Champions League final was played in Paris, having been moved from the original venue, St. Petersburg.
Tuesday was day 209 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
