Bargiel topped the 8,035-metre mountain in the Karakoram range, Pakistan, at 4 a.m. Polish time on Wednesday, and then descended on skis, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

The challenge marked another ski-climbing feat for the Pole, under a project called Hic Sunt Leones (Latin for “Here be dragons,” meaning unexplored territories), according to PAP.

In 2013, Bargiel summited and skied down Shishapangma, the world’s 14th-highest mountain, at 8,027m, in China.

He has also climbed and ski-descended from Himalayan eight-thousanders Manaslu (8,156m) and K2 (8,611m), the PAP news agency reported.

In 2015, Bargiel became the first person to ski down Broad Peak, which rises to 8,015 metres in the Himalayas.

After topping and ski-descending from Gasherbrum II on Wednesday, the Polish daredevil is now setting his sights on the 8,080m Gasherbrum I peak in the Karakoram mountain range, according to news outlets.

Bargiel is being accompanied on his expedition by mountaineer Janusz Gołąb, photographer Bartek Pawlikowski and cameraman Maciej Sulima, the PAP news agency reported.
