The win positions Kubica as only the third driver to achieve victories in both Formula 1 and the WEC, alongside Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber.

Kubica’s AF Corse team, featuring Russian-Israeli driver Robert Shwartzman and China’s Yifei Ye, piloted the Ferrari 499P to a narrow victory, finishing 1.8 seconds ahead of the Toyota team. Ferrari’s factory team took third place, trailing by more than 26 seconds.

Kubica played a crucial role, leading the team after the first two hours. His teammates maintained the advantage, with Shwartzman fending off a late challenge from Toyota’s Kamui Kobayashi. The Japanese driver, a veteran of Formula 1, received a penalty for disregarding yellow flags, which left him 9 seconds behind AF Corse.

"We are pleased with the outcome; it was a tough race. Tire management was key, and our strategy paid off," Kubica said.

The WEC season will continue at Japan's Fuji Speedway in two weeks, with the final race scheduled for November 2 in Bahrain.

In a nod to sustainability, WEC cars are powered by Excellium Racing 100, a fuel certified by the FIA and made entirely from biomass derived from waste in French vineyards.
