Football: Poland boss names squad for World Cup qualifiers

The Poland football manager has released a list of 25 players called up for the team’s first two World Cup qualifiers, against Lithuania and Malta.

The lineup announced by Michał Probierz is headed by star striker Robert Lewandowski and includes Aston Villa right-back Matty Cash, and Southampton defender Jan Bednarek.

Meanwhile, Inter Milan midfielder Piotr Zieliński was left out of the squad due to an injury he suffered in Italy's Serie A earlier this month, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

Poland begin their World Cup qualifying campaign with a fixture against Lithuania in Warsaw on March 21.

Three days later the Poles will take on Malta in their next qualifying fixture on home turf.
