A prominent member of Zielona Góra’s hip-hop scene, Blonkowski, who goes by the stage name Rademenez, freestyle-rapped for 36 hours between November 20 and November 21, beating the previous Guinness World Record by almost 2.5 hours, Poland’s PAP news agency reported.
Under the Guinness rules, the rapper had to change the subject of his musically illustrated monologue every few hours and was allowed to make short breaks.
He was supported by family, friends and many others who flocked to Zielona Góra’s Hydrozagadka venue for the record-breaking attempt.
Rademenez’s result has now been approved and listed among Guinness World Records on the organisation’s official website.
“It’s something I had dreamed about for a long time and I kept thinking of ways to achieve it - so I’m very pleased it has been done and the world title is now in Zielona Góra,” Blonkowski told regional broadcaster Radio Zachód.
Rademenez’s title-winning freestyle performance was preceded by months of training, from gym exercises to breathing drills, the PAP news agency reported.
