The prime ministers of Canada, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and Spain also appeared on the two-hour charity show called Save Ukraine - #StopWar, alongside a host of celebrities from various countries and figures such as the Ukrainian first lady.
The telethon featured live music as well as contributions from artists, civic activists, thought leaders, actors, athletes and volunteers from around the globe.
'Good will prevail': Polish president
Polish President Andrzej Duda said in his message that the "heroic struggle" of the Ukrainian people against invading Russian forces "is in fact no less than a fight for a secure Europe and peace for the free world."
He added that "the imperial arrogance and the crimes perpetrated by the Russian aggressor must be contained."
"Good will prevail," Duda also said in his message.
The event was broadcast by TVP from its main studio in Poland, and was also available on other networks from around 20 countries, streaming platforms, and social media sites.
Before, during and after the show, viewers were able to donate toward humanitarian relief efforts in Ukraine.
The fundraiser was organised as the Russian invasion of Ukraine entered its second month.
Stars for Ukraine
A diverse lineup of music acts provided recorded performances and addressed audiences around the world.
Acclaimed British singer-songwriter Sting and American pop rock band Imagine Dragons were among those who contributed to the telethon. Performers during the event included pop stars Fatboy Slim and Craig David, alongside a host of Polish and Ukrainian musicians.
Co-organised by the Ukrainian government, private companies and the Atlas Festival organisation, the global charity TV marathon carried a message to the international community that Putin's war against Ukraine “is a war between Russia and the entire world, and only together can we win it," Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said.
