The poems will be read by eminent Polish translators of Ukrainian literature, followed by a concert of Ukrainian songs, the state PAP news agency reported.

Among the highlights, Aneta Kamińska is set to present verse by Lyuba Jakimchuk, Iya Kiva and Halyna Kruk; Adam Pomorski will read his renditions of poems by Taras Shevchenko, Marianna Kiyanovska and Bohdan Ihor Antonych; and Bohdan Zadura is set to read from the work of Kateryna Babkina, Serhiy Zhadan and Natalka Bilotserkivets.

Polish soprano Marta Boberska will also take to the stage to perform Ukrainian songs, with the piano accompaniment of the Lviv-born and Warsaw-based musician Natalia Rewakowicz.

The duo is set to present music by Mykola Lysenko, Yakiv Stepovy and Denys Siczynski, among others, featuring lyrics by various artists including Shevchenko.

Co-organised by the Polish PEN club, the event at Dom Literatury starts at 7 p.m. on Monday.

It comes as Ukraine battles an invasion by Russian President Vladimir Putin for the seventh successive week.
