Wrocław Opera has just announced that alternating in the lead part of Floria Tosca in performances of their much-acclaimed production of Puccini's "Tosca" which comes back to the stage at the end of September, will be Ewa Vesin and Ewa Płonka.
In the 2021/22 season, Ewa Vesin returned to Teatro dell'Opera di Roma in the title part in Puccini's "Turandot", debuted as Tosca in productions of the opera at Opéra Orchestre National Montpellier and the National Opera in Prague, as well as singing in the same part in Warsaw and Wrocław.
Ewa Płonka this season among others debuted as Abigaille at the production of Verdi's "Nabucco" at the Arena di Verona, Lady Macbeth at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and will be singing at the Royal Opera House at Covent Garden in London as Venus in "Tannhäuser", as well as Elisabeth in "Don Carlo" at Berlin's Staatsoper Unter den Linden. The performance in Wrocław is her Polish operatic debut.
The production of "Tosca" at Wrocław Opera, which opened in 2021 to enthusiastic reviews is directed by Michael Gieleta, with set and costumes by Gary McCann and musical direction by Bassem Akiki.
