Internationally acclaimed tenor Piotr Beczała, 56, is cast as Count Loris in Umberto Giordano’s Fedora at the Metropolitan Opera in New York.

The upcoming performance dates are January 14, 19, 22 and 28. The first of these performances, this coming Saturday, will be broadcast to theatres and cinemas across the world as part of the Met Live HD series.

Another Polish tenor, Piotr Buszewski, appears as Chevalier de la Force in a revival of Francis Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites at the Met, with five performances scheduled for January 15, 18, 21, 25 and 28.

Buszewski, who is 26 years Beczała’s junior, is at the start of an international career.

Meanwhile, soprano Aleksandra Olczyk will sing the part of The Queen of the Night in Mozart’s The Magic Flute at the Royal Opera House – Covent Garden in London on January 23, 25 and 28.

The role has won Olczyk invitations from many top venues, including the Met, where she appeared at the end of last year, as well as from opera houses in Dresden and Frankfurt, where she is due to perform in March.
