The 60-year-old Oscar-winning artist will be immortalized on Tuesday for his outstanding contributions to the world of music and film.

Kaczmarek achieved the pinnacle of success in 2005 when he clinched the Academy Award for Best Original Score. His composition graced Marc Forster's widely acclaimed film Finding Neverland.

In the early stage of his career, the composer, who turned 60 earlier this year, wrote music for the theatre and toured Europe with his self-created mini-orchestra, known as The Orchestra of the Eighth Day.

As time passed, Kaczmarek directed his musical prowess towards composing scores for an impressive array of over 70 feature and documentary films. Some of his remarkable works include the soundtracks for Agnieszka Holland’s Total Eclipse, The Third Miracle, and Washington Square. He also wrote music for Jerzy Kawalerowicz’s Quo Vadis and Adrian Lyne's Unfaithful.

Having returned to Poland from the United States two decades ago, he was involved in significant national projects, composing pieces in honor of the birth anniversaries of Solidarity and the 1956 workers' revolt in Poznań. Notably, he also took on the role of founding the Transatlantyk Film Festival in 2011, which has since grown into an esteemed cultural event.

Despite facing personal challenges, Jan A.P. Kaczmarek's dedication to his craft remained evident. The composer has recently been battling a serious health condition known as MSA, or multiple system atrophy.

The Avenue of Stars in Łódź, situated along Piotrkowska Street in the heart of the city and inspired by Los Angeles' iconic Walk of Fame, has been a beloved attraction for locals and tourists alike for the past 25 years.
