The daily struggles against the occupiers in 1944 were documented by war reporters like Andrzej Ancyty "Kier", Eugeniusz Lokajski "Brok", Tadeusz Bukowski "Bończy", and a photographer known as "Topór," whose photos will be displayed at the "63 Days of Freedom" exhibition in the courtyard of the Mazovian Voivodeship Office.

"This exhibition is unique because it doesn't depict street battles or bombings. It tells the story of daily life during the Warsaw Uprising. We must remember this, just as we must remember the civilian population of Warsaw, a point poignantly emphasized by Wanda Traczyk-Stawska," said Renata Kaznowska, Deputy Mayor of Warsaw.

"Freedom, dignity, and human rights are values that cannot be undermined, yet the experiences of recent years show that in many parts of the world, the fight for these fundamental rights continues," stated Mariusz Frankowski, Voivode of Mazovia.

"Nothing is quaranteed forever"

Referring to the anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising and the current situation in Ukraine, he added that although today's generations of Poles live in a free Poland and the European Union, events beyond our eastern border remind us that nothing is guaranteed forever.

MEP Andrzej Halicki, present at the event, emphasized that the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising is a significant moment for our identity, and awareness of its importance will also be built in the European Parliament.

To conclude the anniversary celebrations on October 2, the exhibition will be displayed in the main hall of the European Parliament, accessible to all MEPs and visitors.

From August 1 to 4, in the evenings, the Polish Fighting Symbol will be projected on the façade of the Mazovian Voivodeship Office building.
