The programme of the concert, in which the EUYO will join forces with Poland’s Sinfonia Iuventus and the Polish National Youth Choir, features Gustav Mahler’s monumental Symphony No. 2 in C Minor: Resurrection.

The orchestra is conducted by Finland’s Susanna Mälkki. Meanwhile, American soprano Heidi Stober and Polish mezzo-soprano Małgorzata Walewska are the soloists.

The concert follows the EUYO’s 10-day residency in Lusławice. It will be repeated on Wednesday at Warsaw’s National Philharmonic Hall.

'Inspiring the Future'

The EUYO, which brings together musicians from all of the EU's 27 member states, writes on its website that the residency at Lusławice and the two concerts in Poland form a unique project under the motto "Inspiring the Future."

It is part of the cultural programme of Poland’s presidency of the Council of the Europen Union in the first half of 2025.

The director of the National Cultural Centre, Robert Piaskowski, has told Poland's PAP news agency that the collaboration of European youth orchestras is a unique contribution to forging European unity, mutual respect and the promotion of international careers of young musicians from various cultural backgrounds.

The National Cultural Centre coordinates the cultural programme of Poland’s EU presidency, together with the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
