On April 7, the special mosaic was revealed at Wilanowska to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Warsaw Metro. The first line, which opened in 1995, covered 7 miles and included 11 stations.

The ceremony was attended by key figures from the city’s transport authorities, as well as Zbigniew Miedzik, the operator of the first-ever metro train.

Initially, the trains, imported from the Soviet Union, were operated by just 50 machinists. Today, more than 300 machinists are employed, and the system has expanded significantly, now comprising two lines and 38 stations.

The new mosaic at Wilanowska represents the transformation of Warsaw’s public transport and highlights the metro’s pivotal role in shaping the city’s modern landscape.
