Próchniak is one of six nominees in the best actress category, alongside Catherine McCormack, Izuka Hoyle, Karen Gillan, Saoirse Ronan and Tilda Swinton.

The six-part series the Tattooist of Auschwitz, which premiered last year, is based on a bestselling novel by Heather Morris. It tells the true story of Lale Sokolov, a Slovak Jew forced to tattoo identifying numbers onto prisoners at the Auschwitz concentration camp during World War II.

Despite the horrors of the camp, Lale falls in love with Gita, a fellow prisoner, and risks his life to ensure her survival and their escape.

The film features Jonah Hauer-King as Lale.

The winners of the BAFTA Scotland Awards will be announced at a ceremony in Glasgow on November 16.

Próchniak, 36, is a graduate of the National Film School in Łódź, central Poland. Her credits include Warsaw 44 by Polish director Jan Komasa, as well as several international roles in movies such as The Innocents directed by Anne Fontaine.
