The nomination is in the “recording – solo recital” category for his latest CD Facce d’amore (Faces of Love).
Released on the Erato label, the recording features a selection of Baroque operatic arias.
Thirty-year-old Orliński is one of the world’s most sought-after countertenors.
Also on the list of nominees are two recordings of operas by 19th-century Polish composer Stanisław Moniuszko.
A CD featuring his Halka, performed by Europa Gallante under Fabio Biondi and produced by the Warsaw-based National Chopin Institute, has been nominated in the “recording – complete opera” category.
Meanwhile, Moniuszko’s Paria, in a recording by the Grand Opera in Poznań, western Poland, has been nominated in the “rediscovered work” category.
In other Polish highlights, contemporary composer Dariusz Przybylski has been nominated in the “newcomer” category, and set and costume designer Małgorzata Szcześniak is in the running in the “designer” category.
Founded in 2012, the International Opera Awards are an annual celebration of excellence in opera around the world.
This year’s winners will be announced at the 2020 International Opera Awards at London’s Sadler's Wells theatre on May 4.
