The opening production of Verdi’s Aida on October 10 will star Polish tenor Piotr Beczała as Radames.
Anna Netrebko is to appear in the title role. The production will also see a Met debut by young Polish bass Krzysztof Bączyk in the supporting role of the Pharaoh.
Meanwhile, baritone Tomasz Konieczny is billed in a production of Beethoven’s only opera, Fidelio, which will be broadcast worldwide from New York on December 12.
In the current season, 25-year-old baritone Andrzej Filończyk sings the part of Cecil in Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda on May 9. It is his Met debut.
Live HD Met productions are broadcast to over 70 countries. They have attracted an audience of 30 million since the launch of the project in 2006.
In Poland they can be viewed in 30 venues, mostly cinemas, across the country.
