Monday marks exactly 78 years since the start of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, a 1943 revolt in which 13,000 Jews were killed, including some 6,000 who were burned alive or died from smoke inhalation.
Of the remaining 50,000 residents of the wartime Warsaw ghetto, almost all were captured and shipped to concentration camps and extermination sites.
The Congress for Jewish Culture will live-stream its event on its YouTube channel and through the www.congressforjewishculture.org/videos website.
Founded in 1948, the Congress for Jewish Culture is a secular organization based in New York City that aims to enrich Yiddish culture worldwide.
