Entitled The Dress, it traces the life of a young woman who works as a cleaner at a wayside motel. One day she meets a handsome truck driver, who soon becomes the object of her fantasies.
The Warsaw Film School, the film’s producer, describes The Dress on its website as “a film about loneliness, the need for love and physical contact.”
The Atlanta Film Festival is one of over a dozen US festivals that qualify winning productions for an Academy Award, and Łysiak’s film has been included among the candidates for an Oscar in 2022.
Since its premiere at last year’s International Film Festival in Kraków, southern Poland, The Dress has won three prizes at other Oscar-qualifying festivals.
Born in 1993, Łysiak is a graduate of cultural studies at Warsaw University and currently a student of the Warsaw Film School.
