Headlining the festival, which showcases mostly electronic and jazz music, are big names such as Moderat, HVOB, The Cinematic Orchestra, Fisz Emade Tworzywo and Ralph Kaminski.

The festival’s opening gig is set to take place on Thursday evening. Lined up for the stage are young prodigies such as Phatrax, Tonfa and Krenz, as well as the legendary London producer The Bug.

Over the course of the next two days, musicians will perform at Katowice's specially designated Culture Zone, while the last day of the festival, July 24, will see performances at the Jazbar Muchowiec venue.

The Tauron New Music Festival, now in its 17th year, attracts a large crowd of music buffs to Katowice every year. The festival has won the European Festival Awards in the "Best Small European Festival" category three times (in 2010, 2012 and 2014).

It was during Tauron that iconic acts such as Autechre, DJ Krush, Prefuse 73, Jamie Lidell, Amon Tobin, Flying Lotus, Battles, Bonobo and Fever Ray performed for the first time in the country.
