The Witcher is one of the best known Polish culture brands worldwide, and Sapkowski might well be the best-selling Polish author abroad in recent years.
His original eight-book series from the 1990s has been translated into 37 languages, and successful releases in various media over the past decade have provided a constant influx of new readers.
The latest book in The Witcher saga, Season of Storms, was released 10 years ago.

But on Thursday, during an online meeting with Ukrainian fans, he surprised everyone by announcing something quite the contrary.
Radio Poland's Marcin Matuszewski has the details.
