Events worldwide to honour Polish poet Zbigniew Herbert

This year marks a century since the birth of Zbigniew Herbert (1924-1998), an outstanding Polish poet, essayist, playwright, art critic and traveller.

The Zbigniew Herbert Foundation has unveiled a programme of events to mark the anniversary, which falls on October 29, 2024.

Held under the auspices of UNESCO, the commemorations will comprise a wide range of literary, social and educational undertakings, including new publications of Herbert’s poetry, dramas and essays in the United States, Britain and Slovenia.

Among the planned events are radio and TV shows, debates on Herbert's literary legacy, and the “Gift a Poem” campaign coinciding with World Poetry Day on March 21.
