Partnered by Italy's Il Pomo d’Oro orchestra, Orliński will perform music by early Baroque composers such as Monteverdi, Marini, Caccini and Frescobaldi, along with Tamburetta by Polish composer Adam Jarzębski (1590-1649).
Jarzębski was a violinist, royal architect and poet as well as a composer. In the programme notes for the concert, he is described as “an eclectic figure, to say the least."
In 1643, Jarzębski wrote Gościniec albo krótkie opisanie Warszawy, a poem describing the city of Warsaw and its inhabitants, considered to be the first travel guide in the Polish language, according to the programme notes.
"Musically speaking, Tamburetta is a concerto for three voices with a buoyant, martial theme,” the notes say.
Last month, Orliński appeared with the same repertoire at the BBC Proms and last year he recorded the same selection of Baroque music for Warner Classics/Erato on a CD entitled Beyond.
On September 26, Orliński is expected to launch a new CD entitled #LetsBaRock, featuring popular and well-loved pieces by Handel, Purcell, Monteverdi and Vivaldi.
In the recording, Orliński is joined by pianist Aleksander Dębicz and pop musicians Marcin Ułanowski and Wojciech Gumińki.
According to publicity material, their collaboration has synthesized a unique "new baroque" sound.
