The programme includes Beethoven’s Six BagatellesOp. 126 and Bela Bartók’s Fourteen Bagatelles, Op. 6.

The Barbican Hall writes on its website that "there’s no such thing as a ‘mere bagatelle’ when Polish pianist Piotr Anderszewski pairs two compelling sets of inventive miniatures.”

It describes Anderszewski as “technically unassailable, a pianist of peerless insight.”

Anderszewski included Bartók’s Bagatelles on his latest CD, which also features Leoš Janáček’s On an Overgrown Path and six of the Twenty Mazurkas Op. 50 by Polish composer Karol Szymanowski.

Produced by Erato and distributed by Warner Music Poland, the album has won excellent reviews, with the Gramophone magazine naming it as Editor’s Choice for the month of February.

Anderszewski, 55, is regarded as one of the world’s most outstanding pianists. His honours include the prestigious Gilmore Artist Award and the Royal Philharmonic Society Award.
