Cycling: 78th Tour de Pologne takes off

This year’s Tour de Pologne will be around 1,140 km long and take place from August 9 to 15.

The seven-stage race starts in the eastern city of Lublin.

It will end in Kraków in the south of the country on August 15.

The first leg of the annual race will see cyclists cover a 217 km route starting in Lublin and ending in the city of Chełm not far from Poland's eastern border with Ukraine.

The remaining stages of the 78th Tour de Pologne will end in Przemyśl, Rzeszów, Bukowina Tatrzańska, Bielsko-Biała, Katowice and the historic city of Kraków.

Polish rider Michał Kwiatkowski, who won the 2018 Tour de Pologne and finished 11th in the men's road race at the Tokyo Olympics, is among those competing in this year’s edition of the race.

Other top names for the race include Slovenia's Matej Mohorič, the winner of two stages in this year’s Tour de France, and Portugal's João Almeida, a 23-year-old who has finished inside the top 10 at the Giro d'Italia for the last two years.
