Poland, coached by American Mike Taylor, on Sunday suffered their first defeat in the tournament, losing 65-91 to Argentina in the southern Chinese city of Foshan.
The Poles had earlier secured a berth in the final eight of the World Cup following group-stage wins against Venezuela, hosts China and Ivory Coast, and a second-round victory over Russia.
The Poles’ 80-69 win against Venezuela in their opening match of the tournament in Beijing marked Poland's first basketball World Cup victory in 52 years.
The 2019 Basketball World Cup opened on Aug. 31 and runs until Sept. 15.
The tournament is being held in China by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), the sport's world governing body.
