Poland’s Marcin Lewandowski took the bronze in the men’s 1,500 metres on Sunday, and the Polish women’s 4x400 metres relay team of Iga Baumgart-Witan, Patrycja Wyciszkiewicz, Małgorzata Hołub-Kowalik and Justyna Święty-Ersetic added a silver.

Lewandowski produced a fast finish and set a national record of 3:31.46 but was unable to catch Kenya’s Timothy Cheruiyot, who took the gold with a time of 3:29.26. The Polish runner was also narrowly outperformed by Algeria's second-placed Taoufik Makhloufi, who finished in 3:31.38.

With a total of six medals, one gold, two silver and three bronze, the Polish track-and-field team finished 11th in the overall medals table at this year's World Athletics Championships, which ended in the Qatari capital on Sunday.
