In a letter to the participants, read out at the opening of the conference, Poland's Minister of Culture and National Heritage Piotr Gliński thanked the translators “not only for the difficult work with Polish language, but also for your contributions to Polish literature and culture abroad.”

Just before the opening of the congress, Radio Poland’s Klaudiusz Madeja spoke about the significance of the event to Mateusz Adamski, head of promotion of Polish literature at the state-run Polish Book Institute.
