EXCLUSIVE: 'This is war and we will win this war,' Israeli envoy tells Polish Radio after Hamas attack

"This is war and we will win this war," the Israeli ambassador to Warsaw, Yacov Livne, has said in an exclusive interview with public broadcaster Polish Radio after Hamas on Saturday breached the border from Gaza in an unprecedented surprise attack against his country.

Speaking to Polish Radio's Wojciech Cegielski, Livne thanked Poland for its ongoing support and called the Hamas attack on Saturday "an act of barbarism."

Israel on Sunday launched air strikes on Gaza in response, and formally declared war on Hamas.

By Monday, the list of casualties on both sides of the conflict had exceeded over a thousand people.

Fighting continues to rage in Israel.
