The event, which hosted 2,000 registered visitors, included a full day of meetings, 30 debates, and 200 Polish and foreign panelists.

Its main goal is to initiate joint actions by all stakeholders: the government, NGOs, scientists, and business leaders, to care for the environment and create an ambitious, economically rational Polish climate policy.

Opening the event on Tuesday, Poland’s Interior Minister Tomasz Siemoniak emphasized that climate issues discussed during the forum should also be framed in the context of national security, noting that climate change is one of the driving forces behind migration.

“In many African and Asian countries, rising temperatures and diminishing water resources are making it increasingly difficult for people to maintain a decent standard of living for themselves and their families,” he said.

“Officials should assess certain phenomena with a perspective longer than just one term in office, recognizing the urgency of these challenges, as there is no greater long-term threat than the consequences of climate change, nor a more pressing task than tackling its root causes,” Siemoniak added.
