Thursday,June 19th this year marks Corpus Christi , this religious celebration is also a national hoiliday in Poland .The Catholic faithful in Poland traditionally attend Mass and then embark on a procession of the Blessed Sacrament carried aloft throughout the procession, while the faithful sing.The processions are attended by thousands, as the feast is one of the most important in the Roman Catholic Church.Corpus Christi is always held on the ninth Thursday after Easter, following Trinity Sunday, and it celebrates the belief that Christ's blood and body are present in the Eucharist.

The feast has been celebrated in Poland since 1320, with the first mention of processions taking place around the 15th century.. for the past two centuries, Poles have been arranging flower carpets for the annual Corpus Christi feast Particularly famous for such floral compositions is the village of Spycimierz, in the central Łódzkie province, as well as several localities in the southwestern Opolskie region. The wide array of flowers making up the carpets includes wild roses, red poppies and cornflowers.Last year The Polish tradition of arranging flower carpets for Corpus Christi processions has been put on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

In the magazine we will also travel to the  Swietokrzyskie- or Holy Cross mountains in the south of the countryto visit  there the Holy Cross sanctuary and take a look at the  history of Poland's capitals because over the centuries.. there was more than one..
