In the magazine today: May 3 is a state holiday to celebrate the Constitution of 1791, the first modern, codified constitution in Europe. We are looking at the significance of the document at the point in history when it was adopted, and also looking at the preserved original copies of the Constution from 1791.
Also: On May 3 falls the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the Third Silesian Uprising. From 1919 to 1921 ethnic Poles in the area fought a series of three armed insurgencies to break away from Germany and join newly independent Poland. We look at the one hundred events planned nationwide for the centennial.
