Cinematographers is an international artistic and educational project highlighting a unique collection of photographic portraits by some of the world’s best-known cinematographers.
Several dozen portraits are on display, showing a plethora of characters, temperaments and creative ideas.
The exhibition is part of a project that Jaxa started years ago.
He says: “The photographs are part of a project I started 28 years ago, in 1995. At this exhibition, I present 30 of the over 140 photographs I had taken. I think that to complete the project I still have to take some 20 photographs. It is my tribute to these great people, artists who have created outstanding films, who have shown me how to look deep into life."
Jaxa has been active as a freelance photographer specializing in editorial photography and film stills. His work has been published by various media outlets in Europe, the United States and Japan.
Following his photographic collaboration with movie director Krzysztof Kieślowski on the set of the film trilogy Blue, White and Red, he put together an exhibition entitled Remembering Krzysztof, which has been touring the world since 1994.
Jaxa’s Cinematographers project is a collection of photographic portraits of directors of photography from around the world.
So far, cinematographers from 24 countries on four continents have sat for their portraits. The photographs will be published in three books.
