Ukrainian forces advance deeper into Russia’s Kursk region

Ukraine has launched a military incursion into Russia's western Kursk region, marking the largest foreign operation on Russian soil since World War II.

The offensive, which began on August 6, is designed to pull Russian forces away from key fronts such as Donbas, according to reports.

The operation is a direct response to Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine that started in February 2022.

Security expert Bartłomiej Kot from the Casimir Pulaski Foundation, a Warsaw-based think tank, explains the possible reasons behind Ukraine’s actions and their potential consequences.
