Poland is one of Ukraine’s top arms suppliers: official

Poland is among the biggest suppliers of weapons to Ukraine, a national security official confirmed on Wednesday.

Paweł Soloch was speaking after a meeting with Michael Scharfschwerdt, a high-ranking official at the German foreign ministry, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

Soloch's talks with Scharfschwerdt "centred around Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and NATO’s adaptation to the new situation," reporters were told. 

“I outlined the details of Poland’s military assistance to Ukraine,” said Soloch, who is the top national security advisor to Polish President Andrzej Duda.

'We are among Ukraine’s leading arms suppliers'

“Together with the United States and Britain, we are among Ukraine’s leading arms suppliers,” Soloch told reporters.

“We are also among the biggest providers of military assistance as a proportion of the national defence budget, alongside Estonia and Latvia,” he stated.

Compensation for military aid to Ukraine

Soloch also said that he and Scharfschwerdt "talked about options for allies to compensate, militarily and otherwise, the countries that are particularly involved in delivering weapons to Ukraine,” the PAP news agency reported.
