Viktor Orban was addressing coalition MPs in Balatonfured, in eastern Hungary. He justified persisting in Hungary's current course by arguing that, "This is the April decision of the Hungarian people [in the general election] - we shall not supply arms nor join a military coalition."
Orban has sought to walk a fine line between Russia and the EU - to avoid disturbing Hungary's friendly relations with Russia and EU membership - as several reports made clear at the beginning of the war.
However, Hungary's Foreign Minister, Péter Szijjártó, said today that his ministry is preparing for Orban to visit Kyiv, suggesting the possibility of closer ties between Hungary and Ukraine.
